About this project
LivingAccount gives ordinary people the kind of interview usually reserved for celebrities. A user answers guided prompts on camera in the browser, one short answer at a time, and the platform turns the answers into a single interview others can watch, with subtitles and translations into English, Spanish, French and German. To keep the library growing, people can watch other interviews only after recording their own. LNOKS designed and built the web MVP for its founder, starting in July 2024: the recorder, a server-side video pipeline, AI subtitles, one-time Premium payments, a country-based video library and an admin panel, followed by support and a landing page until August 2025.

The challenge

The founder needed a working product to test the idea with real people: free access to a few prompts to bring people in, a one-time Premium upgrade, and a library that only opens once a person has contributed their own interview.

Recording yourself is intimidating. The recorder had to feel simple for people of any age: one prompt at a time, a countdown, the option to pause and re-record, and privacy tips before anything is shared.

Answers arrive as separate clips in different browser formats. They had to be joined in order, converted into one video that plays everywhere, and subtitled and translated without the user waiting on a screen.

What we delivered

In-browser interview recorder
Camera and microphone selection, a countdown, one guided prompt at a time, re-recording and the next prompt, with each answer uploaded as its own segment.

Video-processing pipeline
A background queue joins the segments in prompt order with FFmpeg, converts them to a single web-friendly video, creates a preview image and stores the result.

AI subtitles and translations
Speech is transcribed with OpenAI Whisper and translated into English, Spanish, French and German, then shown in a custom subtitle player.

Library with a contribution gate
Interviews grouped by country, with search and filters. A person can browse others only after recording their own.

Free and Premium access
Three free prompts, and a one-time Premium upgrade through Stripe that unlocks all prompts, longer answers, subtitles and translations.

Accounts and admin panel
Sign-up with an adult-age check, email verification and account deletion, plus an admin panel for users and payments.

How we worked

Step 1 / 4 -
Step 2 / 4 Built sign-up, payments, the browser recorder and the server-side video processing first, so recorded interviews could be tested from start to finish.

Step 3 / 4 Tested a custom subtitle player first, then added AI transcription and translation for Premium users.

Step 4 / 4 Fixed issues found in testing, raised limits for long interviews, and built the landing page with a waitlist.
